Clayton Kershaw re-signs with the Dodgers

Although everybody saw it coming, it's still cool to see Clayton Kershaw coming back to LA. The terms of the deal have not been publicly released yet, most likely because the deal is still pending a physical today, which Kershaw is expected to pass.

Kershaw will be entering his 17th year in Major League Baseball, all spent in Dodger blue. After the historic offseason that LA just had, they will end up with easily the best rotation in the league, as they have signed Japanese free agent Yoshinobu Yamamoto, traded for and extended ex-Rays starter Tyler Glasnow, resigned Kershaw, signed James Paxton, and maintained young flamethrower Bobby Miller. They have all this, and will still be missing the best player of this century Shohei Ohtani, who will not be pitching in 2024 due to injury. Wow.

Kershaw has been one of the best pitchers in history since his debut in 2008, posting a career 2.48 ERA and wracking up 2,944 strikeouts, and 3000 is easily within reach for the lefty in 2024.

He got some bad public light last year however, as he called out the disgusting pride night hosted at Dodger Stadium and was able to bring back Christian family night to the SoCal stadium. He also put up one of the worst postseason pitching performances in game 1 of the NLDS, giving up 6 runs while only recording 1 out. Kershaw doesn't have a history of success in the playoffs either, as he has a 4.49 ERA in October and a 1.11 WHIP.

The race to sign the ace was contested last offseason as well, with the other big contender being the Texas Rangers, who play in the state that Kershaw hails from. The Dodgers are going to be a tough team to beat next year, that's for sure!
